While shooting two shorts for Parks Canada, Ray Schmidt and myself had the idea of constructing a cable dolly that fit the following criteria:
- Small enough to fit in a pack alongside overnight gear and camera equipment
- Inexpensive
- Easy to repair
- Fully Adjustable
- Rugged and Weatherproof
- Setup time of less than 5 minutes under ideal conditions
- Lightweight
What came out of it was a system built of PVC piping, steel cable, laundry pulleys, and cordellete strong enough to support a small camcorder.
